BLP Lip Bullet

Here we go again with the fabulous local brand, By Lizzie Parra! This brand has received so much love from Indonesians since they launched their very first product, a matte-finished lip coat with eight shades. However, we’re not going to talk about them. We’ll dive into their lip bullets instead.

BLP Lip Bullet has eight colour swatches whose names are Biscotti, Cannoli, Licorice, Parfait, Pavlova, Popsicle, Pretzel, and Pumpkin. The colour options are all cute and soft; even the bold one, namely, Licorice, seems modest once you put it on your lips.

BLP offers their fans two sets of bundles consisting of four different lip bullets each, in addition to a single product purchase. They are the spring set and the summer set. The spring set contains Biscotti, Cannoli, Licorice, and Pavlova. Meanwhile, the others remaining are packed into the summer set.

BLP Lip Bullet claims to give satin-matte finished look with soft texture which I couldn’t agree more. It costs you around 129K IDR for each product (3.5 g) and 429k IDR for a bundle. I have been using Licorice, Pretzel, and Popsicle for around six month in total. I could argue that despite their different swatches, even though I  experiment only in three out of eight color types, the claims works in all those types wonderfully. FYI, I have ever fell in love with other local lipstick brand which gave brilliant swatch and prevent my lips from capping. However when I tried different lipstick colour, it was just a party pooper 🙁 it left my lips capped and the colours stained unevenly. Anyway, let’s get a deeper look into this product!

Packaging

Nothing in their primary and secondary packaging is unique. It is common to package lipstick with a cap and a body that you have to stir to make the lipstick pop up before applying. Even so, the primary packaging is made from fairly tough materials; as proven by my clumsy acts, it is still intact after several accidental falls. Also, the printing on the packaging is not easily damaged by any friction whatsoever, making it look like new for a long time. I know it is something trivial, yet I just want to appreciate BLP and the team for paying attention to such details.

Ingredients

BLP Lip Bullet: Popsicle

Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Triethylhexanoin, Microcrystalline Wax, Diisostearyl Malate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Silica, Paraffin, Diglyceryl Sebacate/Isopalmitate, Octyldodecanol, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Dicalcium Phosphate, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Sorbitan Isostearate, Alumina, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Polyethylene, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Cera Microcristalline (EU), Fragrance (Parfum), Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 15850:1, CI 15985, CI 42090.

The star raw materials in this product are triethylhexanoin, isononyl isononanoate, and silica. Triethylhexanoin and isononyl isononanoate are emollients that give non-greasy feels, while silica absorbs oil and thus prevents light reflections, eventually giving a matte finish.

Application

Above to below are Licorice, Pretzel, and Popsicle

Swatching BLP Lip Bullet onto my lips is fun because it melts smoothly on my lips, it is easy to apply, and the colours are spreading evenly with less effort. It doesn’t feel heavy and has excellent moisturising power, except that it is not long-lasting. The lip stains are easily washed by food and drink. Well, I guess all lip products behave this way, though. So, it is not a big problem. You can reapply the lipstick, and the problem is solved. Just as simple as it is.

It all has the same faint powdery smell, which is lovely. I could say that the colour series they have is more like earthy tone, humble, and fit for all ages.

As a general rule about lip colourants, be it lip tint, lipstick, lip gloss, or you name it, I need to remind you that the colours that appear on the lips are largely influenced by the colours of the lips itself. So a lipstick on someone’s lips can look different on another’s lips. In addition, during lip colourant manufacturing, there are some specifications they need to satisfy. One of which is the colour parameter. I can assure you that not a single manufacturer in the world has no range of acceptance for their colour parameter. They must have it; no matter how wide or narrow it is, they do have a colour range of acceptance. Otherwise, the company may go bankrupt due to product quality rejections. This can happen because every raw material being used, especially the colourants, has a range as well. However, I believe that the specification range they make is already carefully considered and within an acceptance level based on exact science, not only human perception alone. Therefore, next time on crazy sale day you buy your two holy lipsticks in different batches and find they differ insignificantly in colour, don’t go rage about it. They are completely fine products and won’t do much damage to your look. 😉

My final verdict on this BLP Lip Bullet Series is I DEFINITELY WILL REPURCHASE! ^^/

At day, we are regular workers at cosmetic and personal care companies who are chased by the deadline back to back from creating product concepts, doing formulation trials-and-s̶u̶c̶c̶e̶s̶s̶-error, to actually promoting the products on our personal social media when they are launched, just for the sake of the company’s life. The more people know about our product, the more the company makes profit, even though nothing changes in our bank account for sure. No, just kidding! Honestly, it’s also for the sake of our ego and pride :D
